Part 9: IndusInd Bank — Premium Without Annual Fees

Welcome to Part 9. IndusInd Bank plays a very interesting game in the Indian credit card sector. While they have ultra-premium cards (like the Pioneer or Pinnacle) that require massive upfront fees or deposits, they aggressively push their mid-tier “premium” cards as Lifetime Free (LTF) to capture market share among salaried professionals.

🏦 IndusInd Bank’s Core Policy

  • Maximum Limit: Historically, IndusInd allowed only 1 primary credit card per user. In recent years, they have begun allowing users to hold a core card (like Legend) and a co-branded card (like EazyDiner) simultaneously.
  • Limit Sharing: If you hold two cards, the credit limit is shared.
  • The “Joining Fee” Catch: Be very careful with IndusInd. Sometimes a card is marketed as “No Annual Fee,” but they will ask you to pay a one-time “Joining Fee” (e.g., ₹5,000) in exchange for reward vouchers. True LTF means zero joining fee as well. Always verify this during the application.

💳 The Core LTF Champions

If you apply through the right digital channels or have a good corporate profile, these cards are genuinely Lifetime Free.

1. IndusInd Bank Legend Credit Card

The Legend card is IndusInd’s most famous “premium” card that is frequently given away for free.

  • Status: Frequently offered as LTF with zero joining and zero annual fees via third-party aggregators (like BankBazaar, Paisabazaar) or direct targeted SMS offers.
  • Best For: Weekend spends and movie lovers.
  • Reward Rate: Earn 1 Reward Point per ₹100 spent on weekdays, and 2 Reward Points per ₹100 spent on weekends.
  • Benefits:
    • Buy 1 Get 1 free on movie tickets via BookMyShow (up to 3 free tickets in a month, max ₹200 discount per ticket).
    • 1 complimentary domestic lounge access per quarter.
    • Lower forex markup (1.8% instead of the standard 3.5%).
  • Verdict: For a free card, the BookMyShow BOGO offer and lower forex markup make it highly desirable.

2. EazyDiner IndusInd Bank Platinum Credit Card

If you eat out frequently, this co-branded card is essential.

  • Status: The base Platinum variant is often LTF (Do not confuse it with the premium Signature variant, which carries a fee).
  • Benefits:
    • Provides a complimentary EazyDiner Prime membership (which offers up to 50% off at premium restaurants).
    • Extra ₹500 off via EazyDiner Pay when you settle your restaurant bill using the app.

3. IndusInd Bank Platinum Aura Edge Credit Card

The entry-level card for everyday spending.

  • Status: Standard LTF offering.
  • Benefits: You can choose a custom reward plan (e.g., higher points on dining, or higher points on department stores) that suits your lifestyle. It also features a reliable fuel surcharge waiver.

🎯 Corporate Advantage: The TCS Perspective

IndusInd Bank loves IT professionals. If you have an in-hand salary above ₹75,000 and apply with your official TCS email ID, the approval for the IndusInd Legend card is usually instantaneous and guaranteed Lifetime Free.

It is an excellent card to keep in your drawer purely for the weekend movie ticket discounts and occasional domestic lounge access when your primary cards run out of quotas.
