Part 3: ICICI Bank — Unlimited LTF Portfolio & Corporate Perks
Explore ICICI Bank's lifetime free credit cards. Learn about their 'no hard limit' policy, the Amazon Pay card, and premium Sapphiro/Rubyx LTF offers for TCS alumni.
Part 3: ICICI Bank — The Unlimited LTF Portfolio
Welcome to Part 3 of our Ultimate Guide. If HDFC Bank is strict about how many cards you can hold, ICICI Bank sits on the opposite end of the spectrum. They are incredibly generous with their card issuance, making them a favorite for credit card enthusiasts and IT professionals alike.
🏦 ICICI Bank’s Core Policy: No Hard Limits
Unlike other banks that restrict you to 1 or 3 cards, ICICI Bank has no publicly stated maximum limit on the number of primary credit cards you can hold.
- The Policy: You can hold an Amazon Pay card, a Coral RuPay, a Sapphiro Visa, and a MakeMyTrip card all at the same time.
- The Catch (Shared Limit): All your ICICI credit cards will share a single, consolidated credit limit. If your total limit is ₹6 Lakhs, that ₹6 Lakhs is distributed across all your ICICI cards.
💳 The Standard Lifetime Free Cards
These cards are unconditionally lifetime free for the general public, requiring no special corporate ties.
1. Amazon Pay ICICI Bank Credit Card
As discussed in Part 1, this is the crown jewel of LTF cards.
- Best For: Everything Amazon.
- Reward Rate: 5% cashback for Prime members on Amazon; 2% on Amazon Pay partners; 1% elsewhere.
- Status: Unconditionally Lifetime Free for everyone.
2. ICICI Platinum Chip Credit Card
The most basic credit builder card in the ICICI arsenal.
- Best For: First-time borrowers or students.
- Reward Rate: 2 Reward Points per ₹100 spent (very low value).
- Status: Unconditionally Lifetime Free.
🎓 The Corporate & Alumni Advantage: Premium Cards for Free
This is where working for a massive corporation like TCS, or graduating from a premier institute, pays massive dividends. ICICI Bank is famous for taking their super-premium paid cards and offering them entirely free to specific “low-risk, high-income” cohorts.
3. ICICI Sapphiro Credit Card (Alumni & Corporate Tie-up)
Normally, the Sapphiro card costs a staggering ₹6,500 + GST annually. It is a dual-network card (you get one Amex and one Mastercard/Visa sharing the same limit).
- Best For: Lounge Access, Golf, and Movie Tickets.
- Benefits:
- 4 Domestic Airport Lounge visits per quarter.
- 2 International Airport Lounge visits per year (via DreamFolks).
- Buy 1 Get 1 Free on movie tickets (up to ₹500) twice a month via BookMyShow.
- Up to 4 complimentary Golf rounds/lessons per month.
- The LTF Strategy for TCS Employees:
- Salary Account Route: If you are in a senior band at TCS (earning > ₹1.5 - ₹2 Lakhs per month) and hold a Wealth Management salary account with ICICI, the RM will often offer this LTF.
- The Alumni Route: Regardless of your current salary, if you graduated from an ICICI-approved list of premier institutes (like IITs, IIMs, NITs, BITS, or top tier medical/engineering colleges), ICICI offers the Sapphiro LTF as part of their “Alumni Program.” You just need to upload your degree certificate during the application.
4. ICICI Rubyx Credit Card
A tier below Sapphiro, normally costing ₹3,000 + GST annually.
- Benefits: 2 Domestic lounge access per quarter, 2 complimentary railway lounge visits, and Buy 1 Get 1 on movies (up to ₹250).
- LTF Strategy: Similar to Sapphiro, but the salary requirement is much lower. Mid-level TCS employees with ICICI salary accounts are frequently offered the Rubyx LTF as an upgrade from basic cards.
📱 The Digital Push: RuPay & UPI Integration
5. ICICI Coral RuPay Credit Card
The Coral card used to be a paid Visa/Mastercard. However, to capture the UPI market, ICICI Bank has aggressively pushed the RuPay variant as Lifetime Free.
- Best For: Linking to UPI (GPay/PhonePe).
- Benefits: 1 Domestic Lounge access per quarter, and 25% discount on BookMyShow (up to ₹100).
- How to get it LTF: If you already hold an Amazon Pay ICICI card or any other ICICI card, simply log into the iMobile app. Look under “Cards & Forex” > “Pre-approved Offers”. ICICI issues the Coral RuPay LTF as a secondary card to almost all existing customers instantly.
Summary for Part 3
ICICI Bank is the easiest bank to deal with if you want a fat wallet without paying a rupee in fees. For a TCS employee:
- Get the Amazon Pay ICICI for your shopping.
