Top Centres for Free/Subsidized Cancer Treatment
1. Tata Memorial Centre (TMC), Mumbai — India’s #1
- Has a “General” category system. If assessed as unable to pay → treatment is free/heavily subsidized.
- World-class oncology: surgery, chemo, radiation, BMT.
- Medical Social Worker (MSW) department helps patients navigate financial aid.
- Network hospitals in Varanasi, Sangrur, Visakhapatnam, Guwahati.
2. AIIMS New Delhi — National Cancer Institute
- Advanced cancer care including proton therapy.
- Subsidized for all. Free emergency.
- OPD: ₹10 registration.
3. Kidwai Memorial Institute of Oncology, Bengaluru
- Government-supported. High-volume, affordable cancer care.
- BPL patients: free treatment.
